Since 2014, he has been a PR and project manager at "Social Impact - Agency for Social Innovations" in Berlin. From 2012 to 2013, he worked as a project manager at the Institute for the Danube Region and Central Europe (IDM) in Vienna. From 2010 until 2012, he was Robert Bosch Cultural Manager at the International Elias Canetti Society in Ruse, Bulgaria.
He managed international projects, including those funded by the European Commission, with partners from the Balkan region as well as from Central and Eastern Europe. One of his main tasks was to establish sustainable structures within the organization. He took on the responsibility of finding a suitable successor for his work at the Canetti Society in Ruse, and raised all the necessary funding to do so.
Bernd Janning studied cultural studies at the European University Viadrina, Frankfurt/Oder from 2004 to 2007 (Bachelor of Arts). In 2010 he completed his master’s degree in historical urban studies at the Technical University of Berlin.
